BAZA 2023

Project Base is a series of meetings between young people and artists. It is a joint search and exploration, which leads to creative activity, and visualisation of their experience, thoughts and findings through art.

The project is carried out within Bytom and it engages its young residents in creative actions and joint discovery of the social functions of contemporary art. The main goal of this project is to show children and youth that through art they can complement the space in which they live with their point of view, their voice. During the project, young people are able to meet artists and their work, and then undertake artistic activities in urban spaces together.

Two schools from Bytom will take part in this year's edition - IV Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Bolesława Chrobrego and Technikum nr 4 im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie. The workshop will be run by artists Dorota Hadrian and Przemysław Jeżmirski in collaboration with curator Dominika Malska.

Przemysław Jeżmirski

- an attentive and conscious observer of phenomena on the border of art, sociology and culture, operating with contemporary means of expression. He rarely separates the artistic process from everyday phenomena - their rhythm and aesthetics. He reinterprets these phenomena in his own way, reflecting on their essence. He says of himself: "I feel like a trickster of the existing reality, which I transform in any way I can. In all this processing, I surrender to the aleatoric power of cognition through a continuous process of action and observation, the result of which is known to no one, and above all to me as the creator.”
